Finally!!!

It has taken a while for blogger to accept the video but FINALLY here it is! - The footage of how Frank spent his favorite vacation moments (other than the ones involving food):

Oh Frank! You are so quick and speedy! The large dot is, of course, Gusaroo, and in this particular clip Frank was delighted by the fact that he actually (with the aid of his aunt distracting Gus) caught up with his very fast bird dog cousin!

Oh Frank! What a proud moment indeed! If only Gusaroo would chase you back your pugly joy would be without possible containment. Sadly Gus is rather too dignified to chase other dogs and will only chase the birds and squirrels that he is so perfectly evolved to hunt.
Perhaps if Frank were to tie a fluffy brown tail on...?

Vacation part 2

Oh Frank! What's that you say? You haven't taken a nap in 2 whole days because you are so very eager to follow about your cousin Gus, and to try to do each and EVERY thing that he does?

Indeed it IS very tiring to follow someone whose legs are so much longer than yours!

This was the usual picture as we headed our for our morning walk. Frank did ok as long as we were on controlled trails....

Once we got to an open field, however, Frank was rather left behind, it is rather hard to see the fast moving pooches, but the farthest spot is Gus. Frank is faithfully chasing after him...

The last time Frank and Gus were together, Frank picked up the habit of scraping his feet and kicking up grass after he went to the bathroom - Gusaroo does enjoy this. This is not a habit that the pup's grandfather enjoys when it takes place on his lovingly cared for lawn, indeed, neither to the homeowners in my neighborhood.

This time, after carefully observing his fine bird dog cousin rolling, Frank, who is not a roller it must be said, flopped right down a few meters away and joined right in. He proceeded to roll in different spots, as long as Gus was watching, for the rest of the trip. Oh Frank. No one enjoys a follower!
(Frank of course has not gone to Middle School and therefore has not learned this lesson.)

After so much walking and rolling, the pups were rather thirsty, so Frank followed Gus to the drinking fountain - or the "bubbler" as some people refer to it...

Oh what clever pups!

Frank enjoys a refreshing drink of water, but it must be said, he rather enjoys a beer more...

Don't worry, it really was empty but for a few drops.

After our walk, Frank would faithfully spend the rest of the day trying very hard to do whatever Gus was doing.

Such as guarding the house,

(oh what a frightful and intimidating pair!)

Watching their grandmother every time she stood up knowing very well that this was the low hanging fruit in the household,

And hunting a delicious soft shelled taco.

Oh Frank, try as you might you will never be quite able to subtly get your nose in there like your cousin!

As you can imagine, Frank was quite tired after all of this action and tried very hard to take a little snooze, but alas, he could not bear to close his eye and lose sight of Gusaroo.

Well, I am sad to say that I hoped to include a video of the Frank trying desperately to catch Gus, but it won't load, darn it all. I will keep trying, so do check back soon!

Vacation part 1

Oh Frank! A Vacation!
Look at how handsome you are in your little traveling house at the airport!

Well, Frank was VERY excited to find that last week it was finally time for his summer vacation!
Frank loves to travel. We started flying with him when he was only a few months old and he was pleased to discover, when he emerged from his Sherpa (the not very cheap travel case you see above), that his grandmother was waiting at the airport with some rather delicious treats and a new toy. He is now delighted whenever his travel house comes out of the closet and immediately gathers up gentle pig from wherever he may have last been played with, and jumps right in.

Now, technically you are supposed to keep the travel house zipped up from the time you enter the airport until you exit the destination airport at the other end.

We do not enjoy this rule.

Oh Frank! You do RATHER enjoy overseeing the goings on at the airport.

And really, does anyone mind seeing such a demure and handsome snout poking out from under the seat?

I am pleased to announce that we arrived in one piece, and Frank was not disappointed when we got to his vacation home....

OH Frank! Whatever might there be in that bag???

Oh MY! The bird collection has expanded again! What a lucky pug you are!

I am yet again assured that the quail pictured above is NOT indigenous to the Pacific Northwest.

Once Frank had finished playing with the new quail he moved on to visit his adopted cousin Cera (short for Triceratops)...
Frank was a wee bit jealous because when we arrived it was Cera's dinner time...

OH my! What a juicy mealy worm you have there Cera!

It was very hard for Frank to contain himself and to stay out of Cera's pen, no matter how much we assured him that he would not enjoy a fat juicy mealy worm (ps, these ones bite! Ouch!)

Sad though he was, the real excitement was yet to arrive in the form of Frank's adored cousin, Gusaroo! Gusaroo was scheduled to arrive 2 days after us, and if Frank had only known he would not at all have been able to contain his joy.

Below you can see the love and adoration in Frank's eye as he gazes lovingly at Gus last summer. Alas, Gusaroo is not always as eager about his wee one eyed cousin.

You might be rather eager to tune in for part 2 when the real Gusaroo excitement begins!
Oh Frank! What delightful times were had!

To be continued....

Rain.

Well, Frank is dismayed by the weather. He would like to see some warm sunshine in which he can bask lazily. I assured him after this walk that the first day of summer - Summer Solstice - is only 2 weeks away, and that surely some sunshine will accompany the official start of the season.

Frank remains dubious.

Oh Frank, at least in the meantime you DO look rather dashing in your rain gear!
